Locked Door Studios Official Founding Date
Monday Oct. 29, 2012
After Months of planning and preparation, Locked Door Studios ready’s itself to officially open for business! Originally conceived by a group of students dreaming about their future, LDS became a serious possibility after attending the annual E3 event in Los Angeles, CA. in June of 2012. Shortly after, the decision was made to form a legitimate game design studio. Some decided to pursue other avenues for attaining their goals, but those of us that took the leap in creating an independent game design studio have never regretted that decision.
The initial stages of founding proved to be a challenge as we determined to cover every thinkable predicament we could find ourselves in. We believed that laying a firm foundation is the key to building a strong studio. Keeping in mind that we are all friends (and would rather like to stay that way), we designed a business model that allowed for checks and balances within the whole group so that everyone’s voice could be heard while still maintaining the best interest of the company at heart .
Continuing with our work, we began to pool our resources. Setting weekly meetings and always helping each other out, it began to feel like a solid team. We moved forward with finalizing our business model and laid out our Operating Agreement. In late September 2012, we set to filing our LLC paperwork.
Initially, we planned to set our founding date for November 1st; but considering our group, and the craziness that is Locked Door Studios, we decided to push our founding for an earlier date...... to October 31! This is fine and dandy; and what difference does a date make anyways? But, for us, it felt fitting that we officially begin our trek to take over the gaming world on Halloween! Crazy? Yes. Scary? Yes. Out of our minds with sheer determination and creative boundary pushing? You bet’cha... Welcome to our world behind the Locked Door!
With the particulars of how LDS should be run, it was time to focus on our first project: Super Busy Bar! Originally conceived at 4am in a Korea Town hotel patio, Super Busy Bar is the vision of our very own Devin Dye after he took a long, hard look at Randy Horn, our ex-bartending co-founder. The pitch to the rest of the studio was welcomed with a resounding approval.
Super Busy Bar: Almost Ready to Open for Business!
Sunday Oct. 28, 2012
Our First project is almost ready to hit the market! Through the months of November and December we will be putting the finishing touches on our first game, Super Busy Bar. We plan on releasing a limited number of beta keys to allow you, our budding bartenders and experienced mixologists, to test Super Busy Bar, tell us what you like, and what you would like to see improved. We’re making this game for you and want to make sure you are happy with it.
In case you haven’t heard yet, Super Busy Bar will look to involve you as much as possible in the design and look of the game. One of the many ways we plan on doing this by incorporating your favorite recipes. We’ll even pick a few original recipes that are created by you, our players, and add them to the game on a regular basis; after some serious taste testing of course! For further interaction, send us a shot of your favorite bar and maybe we’ll pick it to become our latest drinking scene for a future update! So, keep an eye out for an upcoming announcement with details of how you can get in on the beta for Super Busy Bar.
